On August 2, 2021, Antarctic Bear learned that the French Prodways Group recently released its financial report for the second quarter of the 2021 fiscal year, with consolidated revenue exceeding 17 million euros, an increase of 54%. Such a good performance growth is due to the low base in the same period last year and the accelerating pace of economic recovery. Meanwhile, in the second quarter, sales of 3D printers doubled.
Revenues from the Systems segment, which includes 3D printers, software, materials and services, increased 4% compared to 2019 results prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a very positive sign as the world is still shrouded in the Covid-19 pandemic, with only parts of the economy recovering and international travel still restricted, delaying investment decisions for industrial clients.
In addition, in addition to machine sales increasing by more, the Materials and Software business also accelerated, increasing by more than 40% compared to the same period last year.
In 2020, Prodways strengthened its software business, expanding its product offering to include Dassault Systèmes' 3DExperience platform. Prodways increased material production capacity in 2020 to meet growing demand, which is on the horizon for 2021. Sales momentum is accelerating based on expertise in certification for medical applications, as well as in-depth use of Prodways' installed base of machines, the onboarding of new customers and the strengthening of existing partnerships.
It is reported that in the second quarter, the Straumann Group, a leading global dental company, selected Prodways as a supplier of 3D printed products. The two companies are stepping up their collaboration with a three-year agreement covering the development and supply of 3D resins for medical applications.
By stepping up this activity and many commercial successes, material sales nearly doubled in three years.
The Products segment, which includes the design and manufacture of on-demand components and medical applications, reported revenue of €6.4 million, up 51 percent.
This strong performance was driven by medical activity (up more year-over-year), particularly in hearing applications, which surpassed pre-crisis levels. Prodways merged three companies under the Interson-Protac umbrella in 2020 to form the French leader in custom eardrums. Prodways is starting to benefit from the full reimbursement of hearing aids by the French social security system, coupled with the increasing adoption of 3D printing solutions by audiologists.
At the beginning of the third quarter, Prodways resumed external growth drivers, bringing the product division into a new area by acquiring stake in Creabis, a German company specializing in 3D printing services for plastic parts. With about 50 printers in scale, it has become one of the largest 3D printing services in Europe. Prodways is also strengthening its position in the German market, a major European industrial engine that is fertile ground for 3D printing services thanks to a highly developed network of industrial SMEs. In addition, Prodways has entered the German market through the materials business.
With this deal, it is possible to capitalize on the momentum of the ongoing economic recovery and the focus on 3D printing in the context of global supply chain challenges. (Article source: Antarctic bear 3D printing, if there is any infringement, please contact to delete it in time)
