Meet MAT is a mascot mascot model with artistic symbols created by Substance team, big head and arms and legs, belly a little fat, some like the Great White, in short, standing there is quite cute. meet MAT first competition began in 2017, when the competition is 3D drawing, participants use Substance tools to draw this child In other words, the organizer provided the basic model of MAT, so you can design and draw it any way you want, but the tool has to use Substance software.
Substance and the Mimaki team first collaborated in early 2019. At this time, the Substance team was working on the car design, X-TAON, which led the community to create many great designs in the Automotive Texture Art Competition. The Mimaki team produced the first print of X-TAON, which in turn reproduced Damien Climent's groundbreaking interpretation of the car.
The Substance team launched the Meet MAT 2 texture painting contest in 2020, and also released a new MAT model, and the kids have grown up and need new material textures and new exteriors. This time, the core content is replacement.
Handling the fur part of the penguin was extremely difficult," said the mimaki engineer. The model had to be adjusted to fit the printer to reproduce it as accurately as possible. I ended up separating parts of the surface and adding a different replacement value, then did some smoothing in Blender using the sculpting tool."
The mimaki engineer said, "It was a little difficult to bring out this metallic color. It looks a bit monotonous when it is mapped to displace on the model. Therefore, I made a comparison on the face of the sea ape and it worked well."
For this submission, the main concern was achieving a nice base color," said the mimaki engineer. Reproducing metallic colors using pigment inks is challenging, so trying to get a proper color balance can be a bit tricky. For now our 3D printer will use color mapping (diffuse reflection) for coloring, while other mapping is ignored."

Mimaki 3DUJ-553
The Mimaki 3DUJ-553 printer jets liquid photosensitive resin through eight industrial piezoelectricity and uses UV-LED lights to cure the resin to a solid. In addition to CMYK, white and clear resins, we also inject water-soluble support materials through the same printheads. the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 achieves full-color printing in over 10 million colors, and the rich colors apply three-dimensional modeling objects and architectural models to the final product, conveying aesthetic charm with colorful expression and shaping power.
The Substance team says that the strong alliance with Mimaki to usher in the era of full-color 3D printing is the best interpretation of the entry. 3D printed creations are a miracle. When we are able to faithfully reproduce the shapes, colors, and true reproduction of artistic creations, it is like we are bringing a virtual creative realm into the real world.
