A surgical procedure involving the implantation of an HTR PEEK prosthesis was successfully performed at the Vicente Corral M Hospital in Cuenca. The procedure was aimed at repairing a defect in the left frontal-parietal region of a male patient. The prosthesis used was made of PEEK Vestakeep® i4 3DF material, precision printed using an APIUM M220 3D printer and designed in Materialize 3D MaticEI. The entire surgical team was directed by Dr. Amanda Saquicilí, neurosurgeon at HVCM.
Personalized for patients with severe bone defects: the prosthesis is made of PEEK Vestakeep® i4 3DF material and is finely printed on an APIUM M220 3D printer over a period of almost 20 hours. After the printing process, the prosthesis underwent post-processing, calibration and sterilization to ensure its quality and safety. The patient is from Quito.
Cranioplasty was performed for a case of post-traumatic bilateral frontal bone defects in a 9-year-old patient. In this procedure, a bifrontal prosthesis divided into two parts was precisely printed using an APIUM M220 3D printer utilizing PEEK Vestakeep® i4 3DF material.
A patient with a post-traumatic left parietal lobe defect underwent a successful HTR prosthesis implantation at the "Mount Sinai" hospital in Cuenca. The surgical team was led by neurosurgeon Dr. Luis Alberto Serrano. The prosthesis used was made of PEEK Vestakeep® i4 3DF material and was precisely "smart" manufactured using an APIUM M220 3D printer.
A surgical case was performed in the city of Ambato in a patient aged 24 years old, suffering from a traumatic defect of the left temporoparietal. The surgical team was co-directed by Dr. Patricio Vásquez, Dr. Luis Llerena and Dr. Antonio Cevallos. They created the prosthesis using PEEK Vestakeep® i4 3DF material and printed it precisely using an APIUM M220 3D printer.
The manufacture of PEEK prostheses requires continuous control and monitoring.
The APIUM M220 is the only medical-grade printer in Ecuador that allows continuous control online in order to monitor the temperature and process of the prosthesis printing process.
