  Scientists can use Amira software to extract quantitative information such as shape, size and intensity parameters, or measurements related to motility and diffusion. Researchers can also analyze tracking traces across multiple generations of cells to obtain cell lineage information.

  Tracking Fibril Extraction and Editing

  Amira software also helps scientists reconstruct the fibril network and edit the resulting graphical data to remove image features that are incorrectly identified as fibrils or add missing parts of the network. Fibril patterns can then be quantitatively analyzed by measuring parameters such as number, length, thickness, orientation, grade, etc. And compelling 3D renderings can be created based on the reconstructed model and calculated parameters.

  Clinical Research and Imaging

  Amira software can fuse any type of preclinical image data. Using Amira software's extensive library of image analysis filters and algorithms, joint alignment images can be segmented and analyzed. Image segmentation and quantization workflows can be applied to time-series images of dynamic processes.

  Cerebral Perfusion Analysis

  Brain perfusion studies can help researchers and scientists understand the effects caused by stroke or other diseases of brain tissue such as Alzheimer's disease and dementia. The exact site and duration of a stroke can determine the functional impact of the event. Using Amira software, our customers are able to analyze brain perfusion based on perfusion-weighted MRI and CT images. This analysis includes calculation of mean time to passage (MTT), cerebral blood flow (CBF) and cerebral blood volume.

  DTI Analysis

  Understanding the connectivity of the brain is critical to the study of brain function. This allows researchers to better understand how different parts of the brain work together to control higher cognitive functions and motor skills. Using Amira software, we can perform the entire DTI analysis workflow by first converting images to Talairach coordinates. Scientists can then map multiple brain images onto a reference brain. Once the brain images are aligned, the gradient images can be converted to tensor fields. Finally, nerve fiber bundles can be traced and visualized with our advanced visualization tools. For convenience, researchers can automatically strip the skull and surrounding tissue from MRI brain data.

  With its wide range of performance-optimized alignment tools and multi-volume architecture, preclinical researchers can use Amira software to automatically co-align image data from any type of preclinical imaging instrument. Furthermore, Amira software's toolbox includes a wide variety of segmentation and quantification tools to segment anatomical images and quantify radiotracer uptake in co-aligned functional images.
